Hi Sherrie,

American buttercream crusts due to its high sugar content, but meringue based frostings don’t! If you want to avoid crusting, I’d recommend trying my swiss meringue buttercream recipe. Here’s the link: https://chelsweets.com/swiss-meringue-buttercream-frosting/
